FP4A Deeply Concerned by Trump’s Extreme National Security Nominees

Washington, D.C. – Foreign Policy for America (FP4A) expressed deep concern following President-elect Trump’s announcements that he will appoint Tulsi Gabbard as Director of National Intelligence, Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, and Matt Gaetz as Attorney General.

These extreme nominees lack the knowledge, experience, and character to serve in these extraordinarily serious roles. Their records and past statements demand the full scrutiny of the Senate. We call on Senate Majority Leader Thune to reject Trump’s demands and proceed under regular order.

“None of these individuals should be anywhere near America’s most sensitive secrets – let alone our most essential national security agencies,” said Kristina Biyad, acting Executive Director of FP4A. “When you consider all the other qualified candidates, these choices suggest Donald Trump is more interested in tearing apart our institutions than protecting Americans’ security.”
