Sahar Hafeez is an attorney and economic and national security professional. In her current role as Senior Counsel at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, Sahar focuses her practice on international trade and national security matters. She advises companies across multiple industries, including the minerals, semiconductor, nuclear energy and manufacturing industries, on international trade and national security matters, including import/export restrictions, critical mineral supply chains, investment security, digital trade, and trade policy. Previously, Sahar served in various roles in the Biden Administration at the Department of Commerce as a Senior Policy Advisor and the White House National Security Council as Director of International Economics. In these roles, Sahar led and advised on various economic and national security issues including supply chains (particularly in the critical mineral and semiconductor industries), protection of sensitive technologies through export controls and investment security, and data security and data privacy including the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Sahar is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and has served as Vice Chair of the International Trade Committee of the American Bar Association (ABA) (through which she spearheaded ABA’s Report and Resolution regarding policy responses in response to the Rohingya refugee crisis), Advisor at the Human Trafficking Legal Center, and Member of the International Committee of the University Club.
